Newark’s annual Food & Brew Festival will mark its 20th year on Saturday with nine downtown bars and restaurants participating.

Each establishment will offer special beer and food pairings from noon until 7 p.m.

“The event is one of Newark’s most loved summer events,” said Mark Arehart, executive director of The Newark Partnership. “From classic neighborhood staples to new Delaware favorites, you’ll find surprises up and down Main Street and beyond.”

Unlike most beer festivals, the event takes place inside the bars and restaurants and is a pay-as-you-go event.

Participating bars and restaurants include: Caffé Gelato, Deer Park Tavern, The Green Mansion Bar at the Hyatt Place hotel, Grotto Pizza, Iron Hill Brewery, Klondike Kate’s, Pizzeria Mariana, Santa Fe Mexican Grill and Taverna.

    For menus, visit NewarkFoodandBrewFest.com.

The first 2,000 guests will receive a commemorative 5-ounce tasting mug. The mugs are available at the information booth on the Academy Lawn.

In conjunction with Food & Brew, the Hops & Shops Sidewalk Sale will give Main Street’s retail businesses a way to participate. Grassroots, Little Goat Coffee Roasting Co., National 5 &10, Newark Natural Foods, Rooted on Main and The Little Treasure Shoppe will all offer discounts and/or food samples.

Parking will be free in the city’s municipal lots and on-street spaces.
