Galesburg concrete and construction company to open new facility this fall
A Galesburg concrete and construction company will soon open a new facility south of town. Conley Concrete & Construction recently broke ground on its new company offices and shop. The 12,000 square foot facility will be located at the intersection of Lacon Drive and Illinois Route 41, next to the Galesburg UPS Distribution Center. The building will include a shop, garages, material storage and administrative offices.

Rockford man dies after pickup truck is swept into Keith Creek

Joliet Refinery Lost Power Monday Night But Says Safety Their Focus
ExxonMobil in Channahon sent WJOL a statement regarding the power outage last night following severe storms. Pete Colarelli, Midwest Public Affairs Manager says they are, “working to restart operations at our Joliet Refinery after we lost power due to severe weather. Our focus is the safety of our people and surrounding community, and our thoughts are with all those impacted.”

It will take at least two weeks to clear all the downed trees on area roadways. Director of Public Works for Joliet, Greg Ruddy says city crews have been working through the night to clear debris from roads. Ruddy says if you see a tree on the road in Joliet you can call 815 724-3650. But if the tree is on your property, it’s your responsibly to remove it. Ruddy says there are quite a few trees down, about three times the amount they had following Sunday’s storms. No fatalities from last night’s storm in Joliet but one person died after a semi-trailer went down an embankment on eastbound I-80 at Kedzie.
