The New Jersey Devils made a trade on Day 2 of the NHL Draft as they are sending defenseman John Marino to the Utah Hockey Club. As part of the deal, the Devilshe Devils sent Marino and pick 153 in the fifth round of the 2024 NHL Draft for the 49th pick overall in the second of 2024 and a 2025 second-round conditional pick that was initially Edmonton’s.

The Minnesota Wild took the bull by the horns on Friday night. They did what 10 other teams should have done and that is draft Zeev Buium out of Denver University. He was projected to go in the top five but he started to slip a little bit. By the time he got to 10, it was a shock that the New Jersey Devils didn’t take him. Then, the San Jose Sharks passed on him at 11. Both NJ and SJ took defensemen in those spots too.
