NEWARK, NJ - The heart of Newark pulsed with electrifying rhythms as House Music Wednesdays transformed Mulberry Street into a vibrant dance floor the last few weeks.
This summer, Mulberry Commons is set to become the heartbeat of Newark’s vibrant music scene with the House Music Project. Sponsored by the City of Newark and Mayor Ras J. Baraka, the event promises to bring the community together every Wednesday from July 3, 2024, through August 28, 2024, from 5 PM to 9 PM, weather permitting.
Co-organizer Obalaji Baraka said, "House music is a vibe. The festival not only celebrates house music, but also aims to bring about a sense of community and togetherness."
The weekly afterwork destination has already drawn hundreds of attendees and become a staple in Newark's cultural calendar.
The House Music Project will feature an impressive lineup of DJs, each bringing their unique style and energy to the stage. The event kicked off on July 3 with DJ Sassi, followed by Beloved on July 10, and Tee Mallory on July 17, who will also host a special celebration of life for Randall "Slim" Taylor. The festival continued with Naeem's Pre-Birthday Celebration on July 24, and will follow-upo with a heartfelt tribute to Rabin Muhammad by Mark Lewis on July 31.
During the month of August, guests will see performances from DJs Middy on the 7th, Omar Abdallah on the 14th, Steve Davis on the 21st, and will wrap up with Masisi on the 28th. Each DJ promises to deliver unforgettable sets from deep house to classic house and everything in between, the diverse setlists will be sure to get people to enjoy a night filled with unforgettable music.
An after-party will also be held at Bar Vanquish, located at 2188 Market Street, Newark, rain or shine. Doors open at 8:30 PM with a cover charge of $5 before and $10 at the door, ensuring the celebration continues well into the night.
The House Music Project is powered by Random Access Entertainment.
