Former New Jersey Devils center Michael McLeod has signed a one-year contract with the Barys Astana, a Kazakhstan-based Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) team. Per Google Translate, his deal will conclude on May 31, 2025.

On Jan. 24, 2024, McLeod and Devils teammate Cal Foote were granted indefinite leaves of absence from the team. McLeod finished the 2023-24 season with 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in 45 games. His 10 goals were a career-high.

Drafted by New Jersey in 2016 at 12th overall, the Mississauga, Ontario, appeared in 287 games, earning 85 points (29 goals, 56 assists).

The 26-year-old will join former teammate Will Butcher . Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports recently reported that the former Devils defenseman signed a one-year contract with Barys Astana.

The former Devils players will be teammates with ex-NHLers Nathan Beaulieu and Wade Allison .
