Newark NAACP offering free rides to the polls

The Newark chapter of the NAACP is offering local residents a free ride to vote in the upcoming primary and general elections.

The primary is set for Sept. 10, and the general election will be held Nov. 5. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days.

Anyone who needs assistance getting to a polling site is encouraged to submit his or her name, address, phone number and polling site location to newarkdenaacp@gmail.com. Residents can also call the Rev. Blaine Hackett at 302-530-7422 or sign up online at roll-to-polls-registration-temp-32684.cheddarup.com.

Those interested should sign up by Aug. 27 for a ride to the primary and Oct. 22 for the general election.
