Daniel's Law Task Force meets, moves closer to issuing recommendations
The Daniel’s Law Task Force met virtually Wednesday as New York continues to explore reducing police involvement in mental health-related calls. The program stems from proposed legislation known as Daniel's Law, named for Daniel Prude, who died in 2020 of asphyxiation while in Rochester police custody during a mental health incident.

Health officials are sounding the alarm after an illness, dubbed "the world's most infectious killer," continues to infect more people across the United States. Roughly 1.5 million people across the world die from it every year.
Over $20,000 spent on tree removal from storm in Homer; more damage costs expected
The storm that ripped through the village of Homer two weeks ago is coming with a cost, and more is expected in the near future. At Tuesday’s board of trustees meeting, deputy mayor Pat Clune said tree removal has cost the village about $21,000. Phil Stockton, the village’s department of public works superintendent, added (via a drone) that 17 total trees were down from the storm on July 10.
