Delainy Willard headlines Newberg softball all-league selections

Sophomore infielder Delainy Willard was named to the Pacific Conference's first-team to headline Newberg's all-league selections.

Willard was a force at the plate all season, totaling 40 hits, 14 RBIs and two home runs, boasting an average of .568 during the Tigers' non-conference schedule and .475 in conference play. Her performance also earned her a selection on the all-state third-team.

Meanwhile, Newberg secured five selections on the all-league honorable mention list, with Baylee Nix, Rylee Purdom, Brooklyn Mills, McKenna Proffitt and CiCi Smith receiving the nod.

The Tigers finished their season at 12-15 (7-5 Pacific), losing to Jesuit in the first round of the state playoffs.

Baseball

Newberg secured five all-league selections on the diamond, with sophomore first baseman Zadek Bowlby leading the way as second-team selection.

Four Tigers were named to the honorable mention list, with catcher Walker Hilton, infielder Kevin Stone, utility player Carter Hawes and pitcher Parker Sellner receiving the recognition for their efforts.

Newberg finished its season at 6-21 (3-15 Pacific).
