Nearly 300 community members were present at Newberg Youth Soccer's season kick-off night on Thursday, July 19. The community club gathering was highlighted by the reveal of the organization's new logo and name.

Dubbed Chehalem Valley Soccer Club, the switch is meant to better represent the scope of the athletes involved, hailing from not only Newberg but also Carlton, Cornelius, Dayton, Dundee, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Lafayette, McMinnville, Sheridan, Sherwood, St. Paul and Yamhill.

"With this growth comes the opportunity for transformation — a chance to represent and serve our community in new and innovative ways," the organization said in a Facebook post. "A rebranding committee undertook a thoughtful process, engaging with coaches and board members. We conducted a survey of our membership to understand what you value most. This process included many meetings, hours of creative work, and in-depth discussions about the future of our club."

Beyond the rebrand, the gathering announced a trove of potential opportunities within the club, notably upcoming elections for a club president and treasurer to join the leadership team.

Six appointed coordinator positions are open as well, including a communications coordinator, event coordinator, field and equipment coordinator, fundraising coordinator, team manager coordinator and volunteer coordinator.

For more information or to submit a nomination visit the organization's website .
