    Seven Wolves earn Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference Honors

    ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference released its 2024 Men’s Lacrosse Major Award Winners on last Tuesday morning, and seven members of the Newberry Men’s Lacrosse team earned all-conference honors.

    Scott Reed, who was also named the SAC Offensive Player of the Year, was selected to the First Team at attack. Reed led the nation in both goals (66) and points (87) during the regular-season. Both marks are new records for Newberry. Reed also led the conference in shooting percentage (.642), goals per game (4.53) and points per game (5.93). Reed

    scored six-plus goals in seven games, including a pair of seven-goal outings.

    Baker Westmoreland and Curtis Bukta were likewise First-Teamers at midfield. Westmoreland contributed 37 goals (second most on the team) and 14 assists in his senior season. Bukta had 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points, fifth most on the team.

    Senior Jack Travassos was a First Team defenseman. A stalwart defender, Travassos caused a team-high 26 turnovers and snared the second most ground balls (54). He earned SAC Defensive Player of the Week honors twice this season and also scored a trio of goals.

    Long-pole midfielder Brock Strong was named to the Second Team all-conference. Strong caused 13 turnovers on the defensive side for Newberry while grabbing 27 ground balls. He added three goals in his final season.

    Zach Thompson tied for the fifth most points in the conference during the regular-season (55) with 22 goals and 33 assists to earn Third Team plaudits.

    Joining him on the Third Team was goalkeeper Ryan Erler who went 11-3 this season. Erler had a 9.38 goals-against average – third best in the conference – and had a .578 save percentage, also third in the conference.
