HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Warrick County Sheriff’s Office has announced arrests have been made in connection to a shooting that happened in Newburgh on Monday.

During a press conference at the sheriff’s office, Wilder revealed that the victim in the shooting had won approximately $5,700 in a casino in French Lick earlier on Monday. Authorities say the victim went to an apartment where Austin Morgan to drop off a friend and her children. While leaving the apartment, authorities say a man pulled up and pointed a gun at the victim, leading to a scuffle in front of the home, and the gun firing twice.

Authorities were able to use FLOCK images to identify a vehicle connected to the assault and run its license plate, which returned to Austin Morgan and Kalid Samuel Theodore Moore. According to a release, Moore’s physical appearance matched the description given by the gunshot victim.

Authorities say Morgan admitted he and Moore planned the robbery, assuming that the victim had money since he had been at the casino.

According to Sheriff Wilder, one person was injured following the shooting in the 2800 block of Joellen Lane. He previously told Eyewitness News that the shooting appeared to be a “targeted” assault.
