EVANSVILLE — Community members hoping to help students heading back to school will have a chance to donate supplies at all local Walmart Supercenters on Friday and Saturday.

The donation boxes will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., as will shopping lists of needed items, at these locations:

    • Walmart, 335 S. Red Bank Road
    • Walmart, 401 N. Burkhardt Road
    • Walmart, 8599 High Pointe Drive, Newburgh
    • Walmart, 1115 American Way, Boonville

The donations will help the Salvation in its annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive to benefit Vanderburgh and Warrick county schools.

“Stuff the Bus changes lives. From the smallest pencil to the thickest notebooks, these school supplies go to fuel real life change for kids in Southwest Indiana," said Cpt Brandon Lewis, Corps Officer/Southwest Indiana Coordinator. "We are so grateful for our partners in mission who make this possible."

When can community members get supplies for their kids?

The giveaway will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 19 at the Salvation Army on 1040 N. Fulton Ave. Supplies will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Families will need to bring proof of residence in Vanderburgh or Warrick county, their kids and their school supply list.

According to the Salvation Army, left-over supplies will be given to Warrick County CASA to distribute through their Teacher Closet program.
