2 realistic offseason moves Cavaliers should make to become title contenders
The Cleveland Cavaliers have secured a long-term future with franchise superstar Donovan Mitchell, but their work is not done to build a true contender around him. Year by year, the Cavaliers have grown and found greater success in the end. Once Mitchell joined, though, their rebuild timeline quickly accelerated back to postseason - and Finals - contention. With Cleveland, Mitchell achieved his first All-NBA Team selection after his first season and has continued his ongoing All-Star streak. With two seasons before the Mitchell extension saga reemerges, the Cavaliers must use this offseason to find the right complementary role players to open a path to the next stage of contention in Cleveland.
What Does Donovan Mitchell’s Extension Mean for All-Star?
The Cavs signed Donovan Mitchell to a 3-year 150 million dollar extension, keeping him in Cleveland until at least 2027. Guard Darius Garland has been in trade talks this offseason. His representation, Klutch Sports, has said that they will look to find a suitor for the 24-year-old former All-Star if Mitchell extends with the Cavs. However, trade rumors have seemingly dried up. So What’s next for Darius Garland?

Cleveland Cavaliers choose patience over panic amid hectic NBA free agency
As the rest of the NBA scrambles to compete with the stacked Boston Celtics, the Cleveland Cavaliers have chosen a separate path toward contention. Following a five-game series loss to the Celtics, a plethora of trade rumors and major changes for the Cavaliers from The Athletic sent shockwaves through the NBA. Near instantaneously, all eyes turned to the Cavs and their core four. It appeared one or more of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen would be out the door. Surprisingly, though, most of the rumors circulated around what would happen after Mitchell signed an extension, not how the Cavaliers would manage trading their All-NBA talent after two seasons.

Columbus, Akron, Cincinnati and Dayton all documented shootings where at least four victims were injured in June, according to the Gun Violence Archive, an online tracker.
