Cowgirls Soccer loses home opener 3–0 against South Dakota State
LARAMIE, Wyo. — Following a 3–0 loss to South Dakota State during the first home game of the 2024 season, the University of Wyoming Women’s Soccer Team is now 0–2–1. From the beginning of regulation, the South Dakota State Jackrabbits outperformed the Pokes in multiple categories. Sixteen total shots and nine corners from the Jackrabbits compared to 10 and four from the Pokes meant that South Dakota found its way to more efficient scoring opportunities. The final box score of 3–0 for the Jackrabbits reflects that.
Central Wyoming College rocks into Fall Semester with a Metallica Scholars Grant
(Riverton, WY) – Central Wyoming College is pleased to announce the second year of being awarded the prestigious Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI) grant to support the trades. Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands, continues its multimillion-dollar investment in critical workforce programs at community colleges nationwide. With this recent cycle, the grants have now been awarded in all 50 states. Central Wyoming College was selected from a competitive pool of applicants to receive $50,000 to transform the futures of students in the community.
City Council Considers Liquor License Transfer
A retail liquor license was an item of consideration at the recent Sheridan City Council meeting. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details. A request to transfer retail liquor license #2 from Railroad Grill, LLC, to Wild West Hotel, LLC, DBA as the Sheridan Inn, was approved by the City Council following a brief presentation by City Clerk Cecilia Good. Good said a few loose ends were tied up since the last time the details of the transfer were presented to Mayor Rich Bridger and the City Council.
Stanley County Stumbles in Opening Game Loss
The Hill City Rangers would make a statement in the first game of the season on Friday night as they would beat the Stanley County Buffaloes 48-6. The Rangers would build a 35-0 lead at halftime enabling the running clock all second half. Stanley County had to deal with several injuries in the game including quarterback Paxton Deal. Eddie Duffy replaced Deal early in the second quarter.
