University of New Mexico relaunching center to aid students in recovery
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico is relaunching its facility to help students recovering from substance abuse. The goal of the Collegiate Recovery Center is to create a peer space on campus where students can seek recovery support and resources. The center will also help students get connected with resources outside of UNM so that they have a community when they graduate.

NMSU student returns from NBC Sports internship covering 2024 Olympics
Noah Apodaca did not get to go to Paris, France, for his internship with NBC Sports’ presentation of the 2024 Olympic games. Instead, he was shipped off to the coastal town of Stamford, Conn., where, for 12 hours a day, Apodaca helped produce the network’s presentation of the world’s grandest sporting spectacle.
Placitas Artists Series Returns With Renowned Classical Duo
The Placitas Artists Series organizers took a much-needed summer vacation and are launching the 38th season on Sept. 22 with the renowned Patterson/Sutton Duo. The cello and guitar duo has graced international festivals and concert series worldwide. They serve as Juilliard Global Visiting Artists and have released two acclaimed studio albums, “Cold Dark Matter” and “Still Life: Collected Music for Cello and Guitar by Stephen Goss,” featured on NPR’s “Performance Today.” The duo commissions new music, with their recent piece “Still Life” by Stephen Goss being nominated for a 2021 Ivor Novello Award.
Microplastics: Minimizing Exposure to An Invisible Health Threat
Many people are talking about microplastics- the tiny plastic particles less than five millimeters in diameter, and how pervasive they are in the environment, so much so, that they are being found throughout the human body. University of New Mexico Health Sciences researchers have discovered microplastics in the brain, in testicular tissue, and even in the womb. The information may be daunting, but one researcher in the UNM College of Population Health believes there are some things you can do to help reduce some exposure to microplastics.
