OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A sinkhole large enough to swallow a car opened up in Omaha Friday, closing off roads and reportedly putting people in danger. The sinkhole is located near 57th and Pratt streets, in north-central Omaha, not too far away from another large sinkhole near 33rd and Cass streets in Midtown.

Huskers to host St. Louis athlete at the end of the month
The Nebraska Cornhuskers will host a class of 2026 athlete on campus next month. Keenan Harris is scheduled to visit the Lincoln campus the weekend of July 26-28. Harris is a four-star prospect for Saint Louis University High in St. Louis, MO. Last season, he appeared in ten games, recording 95 total tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, and 1.0 sack. He holds two dozen offers, including from Arkansas, Auburn, and Illinois. For 2026, the athlete is ranked the No. 4 player in the state of Missouri and the No. 104 overall prospect. Nebraska currently holds no commitments to its class of 2026 but has made a flurry of offers in recent weeks. Gold Announces University of Nebraska (NU) System Leadership Appointments
University of Nebraska (NU) System President Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., has announced interim appointments to two senior leadership positions in the NU system office. Chris Kratochvil, M.D., will serve as interim vice president for external relations, overseeing a team responsible for state and federal relations, communications and media relations, marketing and digital media, and event planning. Kratochvil will also oversee functions of the president’s immediate office and collaborate with government relations and communications teams across the campuses to help strengthen relationships with university stakeholders and promote NU’s brand and reputation.

The nursing home has been operating and assisting residents of the area for 60 years and has not changed since opening back in 1964. HITCHCOCK COUNTY, Neb. — A Texas man is accused of motor vehicle homicide and tampering with evidence after a deadly crash in Nebraska. Around 6:55 a.m. Thursday, the Hitchcock County Sheriff's Department requested state troopers to assist with a fatal crash involving two semi-trucks and trailers at the intersection of Highway 6 and Highway 25, the Nebraska State Patrol said.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A three-vehicle crash happened Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Webb Road and State St. Capt. Dean Elliot of the Grand Island Police Department said a northbound vehicle was turning left onto State St. when it collided with a southbound vehicle. The collision then pushed into a third car.
