“I came here for dinner, not this. I’m going home.”. I happened to be at the Harbor Village Shoppes when they started charging for parking a few weeks ago. Someone informed a woman that she would have to pay. She became furious and said, “I came here for dinner, not this. I’m going home.” Also, if you go on Briny Avenue by the ocean you may see small groups of puzzled people standing around the parking kiosks trying to figure out how they work. Also on each parking machine is a very helpful sign that says if this machine doesn’t use another one.

Drinking water free chlorination, by City of Fort Lauderdale. The City of Fort Lauderdale will temporarily switch to using free chlorine in its drinking water system beginning at 9 a.m. on April 18 through 9 a.m. on May 9. Free chlorination is a common preventative maintenance procedure for water systems using chloramines for disinfection. The city expects the chlorination period to be transparent to our neighbors; however, some may notice a slight change in the taste or smell of their tap water. In addition, neighbors may see fire hydrants running in their neighborhoods, which is part of the normal maintenance process. The cities of Oakland Park, Wilton Manors, and part of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea also get their drinking water from Fort Lauderdale and will be impacted. Visit fortlauderdale.gov/lauderserv or call 954-828-8000 for more information.
