“What is common, cheapest, nearest, easiest is Me.” – Walt Whitman, “Song of Myself.”. “If you want to make good photographs, a camera has to be second nature to you. Devoting too much attention to technical decisions can interfere with your creative processes.” – Robert Farber, photographer and author.

March 29 is the 50th anniversary of when the last U.S. combat troops left Vietnam. It is a good time to remember it, not for the victory over communism we wanted but were unable to achieve, but for the bravery and the sacrifice of the men and women of the U.S. armed forces who engaged in that conflict.

Viewpoints – Week of March 16
“We all must be extra careful driving in this area”. I’m always reading The New Pelican for local news and advertising, especially for restaurants. The intersection at Atlantic and Dixie is worse now than before. However, it looks like they are making some progress by placing the medium strips where a bit of landscaping will go. No doubt this terrible nightmare should end soon and we will be able to cross Dixie without much delay. I am not sure about crossing Atlantic near the tracks. This project puts everyone in danger so we all must be extra careful driving in this area. I have doctors and businesses to patronize east of Dixie so I must find ways to travel when needed. Thanks for keeping us informed.
