BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Let’s take a look at what to do this weekend. A new exhibit -- “Connections” -- opens tomorrow at the Chaffee Art Center in Rutland. This exhibit will have stories written by each artist that connects their work to others. To celebrate, the art center is hosting a garden party from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. There you will get the chance to explore the pollinator garden filled with native plantings, a growing sculpture garden, and over a dozen other gardens at the historic property. This free event will also feature various art demonstrations, speakers, and refreshments.
Suspect wanted in 2023 Burlington shootout appears in court
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A Detroit man wanted in connection with a Burlington shootout in 2023 appeared in court Friday. John Austin, 30, pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault charges connected to the shootout on Riverside Avenue in May 2023. The Burlington Police say one of the bullets in the early morning shootout punctured a gas line prompting the evacuation of nearby residents. One of the bullets also went into a home. None was injured.
Man faces multiple drug trafficking charges in Waterbury
WATERBURY — Vermont authorities arrested a Massachusetts man on Thursday afternoon following a lengthy investigation into illegal drug distribution in Washington County. Meet and greet the knotweed goats
The Mad River Valley conservation commissions and Mad Goat Initiative invite all to join them for a meet and greet with the goats on July 30 at Riverside Park in Warren. Come by to visit with goat herders and conservation commission folks, and learn about local efforts to control knotweed here in the Mad River watershed. This is the first year deploying goats to graze the knotweed and organizers want to give you, the public, a first-hand look at how it's going. A small herd of goats has been deployed at Riverside since early July and people can see them in action and pet some of the new baby goats.
