A beloved Northern Kentucky eatery has bid farewell to customers after three decades in business.

York Street Cafe in Newport is closing its doors after 30 years, according to a social media post from the restaurant.

"We are so grateful to the guests who have supported us through all these years. The weddings, proposals, first dates, anniversaries, birthdays, and countless other special occasions that were celebrated here we live on in our memories forever," a comment from the restaurant's Facebook account under its July 19 post read. "You all added so much personality to this place, and helped to make it special."

York Street Cafe did not give a reason for the closure.

Enquirer food writer Keith Pandolfi reported in 2022 that owners Terry and Betsy Cunningham were preparing for retirement and that Betsy Cunningham had said they sold the building. It remains unclear whether the Cunninghams' retirement plans impacted the decision to shutter York Street Cafe.

The Cunninghams bought York Street Cafe, formerly known as York Street International Cafe, from real estate developer David Hosea in 1997.

The Enquirer contacted the restaurant for more information and is awaiting a response.

"We will miss you all. Thanks for everything," the comment on Facebook reads.
