Officer, deputy found to be justified in shooting suspect at Target in Woodbury
Two members of law enforcement were found to have lawfully used force when they shot a man who pointed a pellet gun at them in Woodbury in April. In a memo to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office determined that Officer James Stoffel with the Woodbury Public Safety Department and Deputy Brian Krook of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office were justified in using deadly force against 61-year-old Donald Eugene Roche.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency says parts of northwest Minnesota will be affected by Canadian wildfire smoke this week. Heavy ground-level smoke is expected in the region beginning this afternoon. The air quality alert will take effect at 3 p.m. today and will last until 6 p.m. Sunday. The area affected includes East Grand Forks and Moorhead and could be expanded if the smoke spreads to a wider area.

Sun Country flight attendants vote to authorize strike
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. — The union representing flight attendants for Minnesota-based Sun Country Airlines says those members have voted to authorize a strike. In a news release sent out Thursday, union leaders said the nearly 600 flight attendants who staff Sun Country flights have not had a pay adjustment since 2016, and are far behind colleagues at similar carriers when it comes to compensation. The union maintains that Sun Country Airlines exceeded $1 billion in revenue for the first time last year, and reported greater revenue than ever before in the first quarter of 2024.
