Independence Day closings

Independence Day is Thursday, July 4. With the holiday comes closings on a local, state and federal government level. Here is a rundown of holiday closings.

The courthouse and courthouse annex will be closed on Thursday.The Cocke County Landfill and all convenience centers will be closed on July 4.Newport City Hall will be closed.Any city trash pickup set for Thursday will be done on Friday.Parrottsville Town Hall will be closed.The Cocke County Health Department will be closed.Financial institutions will be closed.There will be no mail and the post offices will be closed.FedEx and UPS will not be making deliveries.All four community libraries will be closed.The Newport Plain Talk office will be closed.Some retail establishments may be operating on an abbreviated schedule, so check in advance.
