Former Sen. Joe Lieberman's high school is remembering him following his death.

Lieberman graduated from Stamford High School in 1960. Lieberman was a member of the debate team and on student council.

Earlier this month, the school celebrated its 150th anniversary.

In preparation for the celebration, Lisa May Melfi has been reaching out to alumni on the school's Wall of Fame for video messages of their memories, including Lieberman.

"He replied right back and said I will send you a video and I nearly fell to the floor," says Melfi.

Lieberman sent Melfi a video message back, even proudly singing the school's song.

In 1989, Lieberman spoke about his love for the Black Knight community during a visit to the school.

Wherever I go in life, whatever I'm lucky enough to do I will always be proud to say that I am a Black Knight from Stamford High School," said Lieberman .

Melfi, who was in attendance for that visit, says she is saddened by Lieberman's loss.

"Pretty sad for sure," said Melfi. "A great loss to our community. And the Black Knight community for sure."

Melfi says she sent Lieberman the final video of the 150th anniversary. She says he emailed her back last week and said it was wonderful.
