Dozens of people took part in a pro-Palestinian protest Wednesday on the campus of Stony Brook University.

T he rally was originally supposed to take place near the Stony Brook LIRR station . It was then moved to a bus stop on campus before students protesters marched peacefully to the administration building.

The group who organized the protest says they moved the rally because of the presence of a "hostile outside group."

Some adults commended students, telling News 12 they think it's "fabulous" that young people are exercising their First Amendment rights.

The demonstration took place nearly a week after 29 people were arrested during a protest on campus. Twenty-two of the people arrested were students. Two were faculty members.

Student protesters wouldn't talk to News 12.

Later in the afternoon, there was a smaller protest outside the Long Island Rail Road station and a few counter-protesters who said they were there in support of Israel.

    Traffic was not disrupted.

Everything remained peaceful while News 12 was there.
