    New York City History: The Brooklyn Bridge turns 141-years-old today!

    The Brooklyn Bridge crossing the East River opened back on May 24, 1883, making it 141-years-old today.

    Mayor Eric Adams marked the occasion by announcing the opening of a revitalized public space next to the bridge.

    After being closed to the public for over a decade, the Arches in Chinatown features areas for basketball, pickleball and shuffleboard.
