A New City home recently purchased by non-profit organization "Bridges" is being transformed with a universal design concept to enhance the quality of life for individuals with different abilities. The renovation includes wider doorways, no-step entries, added lever door handles, and more. The goal is to complete the project within a year, after which "Bridges" plans to showcase the home before selling it to fund the renovation of another property with universal design. CEO Carlos Martinez emphasizes the importance of universally designed homes, stating, "Making more homes universally designed will help more people live in the community with freedom and independence." "Bridges" aims to advocate for more homes to incorporate universal design concepts, starting with at least the first floor, to promote inclusivity and accessibility. "
