A 3-year-old boy in Essex County is fighting for his life after accidentally shooting himself , according to Newark Police Department. The toddler was listed in critical condition. The incident happened around 5:45 p.m. Thursday at a home on Wainwright Street near Bragaw Avenue. The 3-year-old apparently got his hands on the gun and shot himself, police say. The incident remains under investigation. A bodega owner says the boy’s brother rushed into his shop to call 911. There is no word on how the 3-year-old was able to get his hands on the gun or if anyone will face charges.
