Cleanup efforts were still underway at White Plains Hospital Friday afternoon, more than 24 hours after a sprinkler malfunction caused extensive flooding and damage in the labor and delivery wing. Hospital officials say
all patients in the affected area were relocated to other parts of the hospital until repairs are complete. No other areas of the hospital are affected, and other departments remain open. Leigh Anne McMahon, EVP of patient care services, said, "Water takes a little bit of time, and we want to make sure everything is done exactly the way it should. We have a lot of consultants helping us to mitigate damage and get the organization back up and running exactly the way it should look." Visitors said the incident was concerning. "It was a little traumatic. I didn't know how bad it was going to get. I was scared," said Rah Norv, whose family is one of many who were moved from the labor and delivery floor. Norv said his $1,000 stroller was damaged but is working with the hospital to try to get compensated for their damaged belongings. Assessment of the damage and replacement of necessary equipment will continue into the weekend. "
