Pelham Parkway residents called on Mayor Eric Adams on Saturday to stop the Department of Transportation from taking away their free parking. The DOT plans on turning the free parking lot at the corner of Bronx Park East and Bronxdale Avenue into a permit lot on Sept 1. Residents came together to voice their concerns. “I'm asking Mayor Adams, who speaks a lot about equity, how is this equitable?” Roxanne Delgado, a Pelham Parkway resident said. “They are targeting a very marginalized community, where English is their second language," Delgado said. "They have a median income that is less than $30,000.” The price of a permit is over $200 a month, an expense residents say they can’t afford. The lot, which is right next to River Park has over 70 parking spots, but only 18 are currently open for applications. "
