A grief-stricken mother makes a plea to stop gun violence just hours after her 28-year-old son was fatally shot. Gwendolyn Little of Yonkers spoke with News 12 Monday night, and through her tears, she said, "Gun violence has to stop, because you're hurting families, you're taking people's loved ones. I will never touch my son again, I will never see my son again." According to police, shots were fired into Doyle Park on Ashburton Avenue just after 5 p.m. Monday evening. Officers arrived to find two men with gunshot wounds. Both were rushed to the hospital, where one was pronounced dead. The other was in stable condition. Yonkers detectives cordoned off the area for hours and would only say they believe the shooting was a targeted attack, and that they are asking for the public's help. It was just last week that Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that, with the help of a state program, Yonkers saw a 57% drop in gun violence with injuries over the first seven months of this year, compared to the same time frame last year. As a mother my heart goes out to her, losing a son or daughter must be a loss you will never get over . As a yonkers resident I truly believe that what the news report about crime decreasing in yonkers is bullshit, they are not being truthful with the reports , crime is high especially after we got all the ilegals.
