Residents at 2201 to 2205 Davidson Avenue tell News 12 that more than 80% of their building has signed on to enter the city’s Third Party Transfer Program
(TPT). If accepted, this would take the building from current owner Romad Realty and into the hands of tenants as co-owners. Northwest Bronx Community And Clergy Coalition has been helping tenants navigate this often confusing process. After years of leaky ceilings, broken down elevators, rat infestations, and even more – the tenants hope becoming a co-op gives them a true say in how they live. With enough signatures to enter the TPT, the residents must meet and select a sponsor who essentially acts as a building manager. According to HPD , the building has had 366 complaints, 874 violations, 522 charges, and 42 lawsuits, including one filed by tenants that we covered in March. News 12 reached out to David Kornitzer, one of the owners of the property listed on HPD’s website and is awaiting a response. Our crews were told tenants are meeting with a potential sponsor on Wednesday. "
