Yonkers police: Man fatally shot on South Broadway; arrest made

Police say a man was killed and another arrested in an early Sunday morning shooting in Yonkers. It happened Sunday morning around 4 a.m. in front of 289 S Broadway after an argument between two men. One of the men pulled out a gun and hit the other man with it before shooting him in the chest. Two Yonkers police officers who were nearby heard the shot and began rendering aid to the victim in the street. He was taken to a nearby trauma center, where he died. Meanwhile, police say the shooter originally ran off but was quickly caught nearby on Ludlow Street. He reportedly got rid of the gun as he was running off, but police were able to recover it from a nearby front yard. The victim’s information is not being released pending notification to the next-of-kin, and no charges have been filed yet. "
