The Gilmore Girls has delighted fans for nearly twenty-five years - and the town that inspired the cherished show is right here in the nutmeg state. In this week's Road Trip Close to Home, News 12 photojournalist Lori Golias takes us to the town that inspired Stars Hollow, Connecticut. It all started at the Mayflower Inn & Spa when the show's creator, Amy Sherman - Palladino stayed there. Inspired by the small-town New England charm of Washington, it became the inspiration behind Stars Hollow. Fans of the show have visited from all over the world. Here are just a few ideas for where to go when you get there. First Stop: Coffee!!! Head to the Po Cafe, Marty's, the Pantry, or the Smithy. Next Stop, grab a book and find a quiet place to take in a good book. Be sure to stop by Washington Supply Company for all your household needs or check out their seasonal shop. They have been a staple in town since 1893.
