Summer-like weather to continue into the start of the weekend After reaching the 80s with higher humidity on Friday, a near-carbon copy is expected for Saturday, with highs reaching near 85 degrees away from the coast. Also happening during the morning will be some patchy dense fog. The fog is expected to be a bit more widespread between midnight and 8 a.m. and densest closer to the immediate water. Neighborhoods like Throgs Neck and City Island could see poor visibility impacting travel during that time. The humidity remains all weekend, but it will get a tad cooler on Sunday. Highs will be on either side of 80 degrees. This cooling trend will continue into the start of next week with increasing clouds on Monday and especially Tuesday. Highs are expected to top out in the 70s. All eyes then turn to potential tropical trouble midweek next week. As of Friday afternoon, the National Hurricane Center has a 40% chance of a tropical or subtropical system forming off the Carolina coast early next week. If it forms, it will be named Helene. Named or not, there is plenty of tropical moisture likely associated with the storm, and the track will have major implications on the local impacts next Wednesday and Thursday.

If the storm stays south, like the European model shows, then it will remain dry and drought concerns will grow. There are still several days to track this.
