Family and friends gather for vigil to remember woman whose body was found in a suitcase

Loved ones will say their final goodbyes today to the woman whose body was found in a suitcase on the border of Huntington and Huntington Station. “She loved music, always smiling, always happy,” said Devin Howard, a friend of Seikeya Jones. He said he has great memories of growing up with her. He was one of many mourning her loss at a vigil Friday night. “My heart is just broken. I feel really bad for her family." Police found Jones’ body stuffed inside a suitcase, next to an apartment building at 320 Nassau Road. She was 31 years old and a mother of a young boy. Dozens of family members, friends and clergy members remembered Jones at a vigil, held in the location where her body was found. Many of them honored her memory by lighting candles and writing messages on poster boards with her picture on it. Amid the crying and consoling, there was frustration among the family because no one has been arrested. “I wanted justice," said Yolanda Terrell, Jones’ mother. "I want them to find whoever did this to my daughter, because my daughter didn’t deserve to be thrown in whatever this is, in a suitcase. She’s a human being just like everybody else.” “This shouldn’t actually be anybody’s reality," said Howard. "This is something that you see in a horror movie. You would never think actually that it would be this close to home.” The cause of Jones’ death is under investigation. The family is pleading to the public for anyone with information to call police.
