Gov. Phil Murphy commented for the first time about the indictment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams. On News 12’s “ Ask Gov. Murphy
” program, the governor said that the allegations made against Adams are “troubling.” He said that the mayor has been a great governing partner over the past two years, and he was struck by how strongly Adams has defended himself against these charges. Some in New York City have called for Adams to resign, but the governor did not state if he agreed with that sentiment. LIVE UPDATES: Developments on the indictment of NYC Mayor Eric Adams "I'll let others closer to this opine on that…I have every confidence that we'll be able to continue to prosecute our mutual agenda...I mean, crime, migration, other matters, ports. There's a lot of interface between the city and the state,” Murphy said. Adams is the first sitting mayor in New York City to face criminal charges. Federal prosecutors unsealed an indictment on Thursday, accusing the mayor of letting Turkish officials and businesspeople buy his influence with illegal campaign contributions and overseas trips. Adams faces conspiracy, wire fraud and bribery charges. "

Murphy is awful. Now, if the mayor of NYC were a Republican, Murphy would be jumping up and down demanding a resignation. However, because Adams is a Black Democrat, he describes it as “troubling.” Thank gosh he’s out the door next year.
