Connecticut is hosting a statewide Gun Buyback and Gun Safe Giveaway program this Saturday, aiming to reduce gun violence and promote safe storage. The initiative, led by anti-violence groups, allows individuals to exchange unwanted firearms for up to $200 at participating police departments. Participating locations for gun buyback include Stamford, Norwalk, and Newtown police departments. Bridgeport, Easton, and Danbury police departments will offer free gun safes for secure storage. The program is completely anonymous, requiring no identification. Kristen Song, who lost her son Ethan to an accidental shooting with an unlocked neighbor's gun, stresses the importance of securing weapons. "This is my reality every day and every night. And to think all of this pain and suffering could have been prevented in seconds." The event will take place this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. "
