Over 4,000 riders took off on two wheels Sunday for the 30th annual Tour de Bronx . Participants had the option of a 10, 25 or 40-mile ride through the borough. The ride begins yearly at E. 161st Street and the Grand Concourse and ends at the New York Botanical Garden. Riders who News 12 spoke with said it was an opportunity to bike without the concern of cars. "In the past, it felt really unsafe, there was really nowhere for a bicycle to go. The rides every year was a way for there to be a bit of safety and a feeling of reassurance because you're riding with so many others." said Shawn Garcia, the director of advocacy at Transportation Alternatives. Garcia was expecting the highest number of riders since before the pandemic. He hopes the number continues to grow in years to come. "
