Residents in the Sea Bright area heard a loud bang around 9 p.m. Sunday. It turns out it was a transformer fire that took place in the area of Route 36 and Rumson Road. The Department of Transportation and JCP&L crews have been working overnight to work on the aftermath of the fire. A water pole was struck and caused an outage for residents nearby. As of now, Route 36 is closed between the Rumson Bridge and Highlands Bridge.
