Delia Burkes, a NYCHA tenant in Allerton, says mold and structural damage in her apartment is affecting her and her family’s health. She says the issues still persist, despite filing multiple repair requests. “I’ve been having seizures in this house, never had seizures before,” Burkes said. Her daughter, who recently had a baby, is planning to leave for a shelter due to safety concerns. NYCHA told News 12 that it is working with Burkes to schedule mold cleaning, painting and ceiling repairs. "

That’s how they’re doing business. Running women in shelters to take over these apartments.

I am writing to express my concern about the recent news that a woman is being forced to move to a city-run shelter due to the New York City Housing Authority's (NYCHA) failure to fulfill its duty to ensure the safety of its residents. This situation is unacceptable and highlights the urgent need for new leadership in both the city and state governments. As New Yorkers, we deserve better.
