A deli in Throgs Neck that was shut down by the New York City Sheriff's Office is set to reopen, according to an employee. News 12 previously reported the Family Deli, located at 4011 East Tremont Ave., was shut down after
authorities found over 170 pounds and $1 million in cannabis products and other drugs such as mushroom products. Court documents obtained by News 12 indicate the business will be allowed to reopen for now as the case for the long-term situation of the deli is still ongoing. The store isn't currently open for business, but an employee of the store tells News 12 they plan to do that soon. Residents tell News 12 the area has been calmer during the closure. They say they saw may young people frequenting the store. One resident, who wants to remain anonymous, spoke to News 12 about the opening. "I'm not happy about it at all," said the resident. News 12 reached out to the owner and his lawyer for comment, but they declined. Court filings say the owner claims he was shut down based on "mistaken, unfounded, erroneous and false information." News 12 reached out to the New York City Sheriff's Office for comment who said in a statement "While we cannot comment on a pending legal matter, any store that has been unsealed is subject to reinspection by the Sheriff's task force."
