    Forest fire officials: Brush fire 70% contained in Rockaway Township; NJ under Stage 3 fire restriction

    In Morris County, firefighters from multiple departments in surrounding towns are working extremely hard to put out a wildfire. All of New Jersey is under Stage 3 fire restrictions according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. All fires in wooded areas are prohibited, unless contained in an elevated stove using only propane, natural gas or electricity. No charcoal fires allowed.
    New Jersey Forest Fire Service has been working to contain the wildfire since Saturday in Rockaway Township near Jacobs Road. As of Monday morning, it is 70% contained. It burned 77 acres, and 13 homes or structures are threatened. There are no evacuations in place and Jacobs Road remains closed. SUNDAY COVERAGE The Forest Fire Service says on Saturday afternoon a helicopter capable of dropping 350 gallons of water dropped 15 loads, that's over 5,000 gallons of water. Some other department helping out to protect neighborhoods from the fire included Peapack Gladstone, West Milford, and Bulter. Bloomingdale Fire Department says they used someone's pool to collect water. Meanwhile, in addition, The Green Pond Volunteer Fire Department, had to put out a boat that was on fire at one of the docks in the nearby Green Pond. "
