Dozens of Long Islanders came together to celebrate new improvements at Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park in Oyster Bay. The new changes include the installation of 2,000 feet of new handicapped-accessible pathways, new signage and maps - and the planting of more than100 native oak trees. "With today's ribbon-cutting it provides new enhancements to make everyone feel welcomed and invite them to come to Planting Fields to enjoy this incredible place." explained Kayla Cheshire, of Planting Fields Foundation. The new enhancements are part of a $2 million, two-phase project to improve the experience for visitors. "Part of the experience of coming here was getting lost, now there are signs to help us find areas easier," added Raissa Dally-Bakalis, of Oyster Bay. The Planting Fields Foundation is now working to raise money to build an interactive pavilion for guests. "
