BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Randolph in Class C and Pine Valley in Class D both won Section VI championships on Friday night at Jamestown Community College.

Randolph hangs on in overtime to win Class C title

The Cardinals needed overtime but were able to defeat Westfield 54-48 for their second consecutive Class C crown.

After trailing 34-23 after three quarters, Westfield (20-3) came roaring back to tie the game at 42 at the end of regulation. Randolph (21-2) didn’t allow their blown fourth-quarter lead to deter them, however, as they would go on to win the overtime period 12-6 en route to a ninth sectional title under head coach Kevin Hind.

Drew Hind tallied a game-high 29 points for the Cardinals to lead the defending New York State Class C champions back to the Far West Regionals, where they’ll play the winner of Section V’s Class C crossover game. That regional matchup is slated for 6:30 p.m. March 8 at Buffalo State.

Pine Valley wins first sectional title in over a decade

Pine Valley shut out Clymer in the fourth quarter, erasing a six-point deficit to win the Class D sectional title 30-28.

The victory gave the Panthers (11-11) their first sectional title in 13 years.

Pine Valley entered the final quarter trailing 28-22, before a remarkable defensive effort saw them hold the Pirates (10-12) scoreless across the last eight minutes.

Jon Sheldon led the Panthers with 11 points on the night.

Pine Valley will face the winner of Avoca-Prattsburgh and Elba in the Far West Regionals at 6 p.m. March 9 at Buffalo State.
