BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The girls basketball teams from Lancaster, Southwestern and Frewsburg won Far West Regional playoff games over the weekend at Finger Lakes Community College, advancing to the NYSPHSAA semifinals next week in the Hudson Valley region.

In the CHSAA playoffs, St. Mary’s won the Division A title, and Mount St. Mary won Division B on Saturday, following Monsignor Martin league champion Cardinal O’Hara’s loss in the Division AA semifinals on Friday night.

This is the first time since 2018 that three WNY teams are advancing to the state semifinals. Section VI champions Starpoint, Lewiston-Porter and Panama ended their seasons with Far West Regional losses on Saturday.

Four-star prospect Madison Francis scored 20 points to led Lancaster in a 41-31 win against Fairport in the Class AAA regional on Friday night. The Legends (18-4) will meet Liverpool at 9 a.m. Saturday at Hudson Valley Community College.

Reece Beaver scored 42 to lead Southwestern back from a 19-point deficit to beat Hornell on Saturday, 63-61, in Class B. Beaver, a Daemen University recruit, lifted her career total to 2,470 points, ranking fourth on Western New York’s all-time girls basketball scoring list, and 26th in New York State history. The Trojans (18-7) will meet Albany Academy at 9 a.m. Friday.

Freshman guard Jadyn Trocki scored 27, and sister Teghan Trocki, a junior, added 24, including a banked in turnaround from near midcourt to beat the buzzer at the end of the third quarter, in Frewsburg’s 75-67 win against Dundee Bradford in Class C. The Bears (21-3) will play Duanesburg at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Starpoint lost 59-43 against Hilton in AA, Lewiston-Porter lost 64-53 against Aquinas in A, and Panama lost 58-47 to Elba in D.
