BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Congressman Nick Langworthy announced nearly $188,000 dollars in federal funding Thursday to combat mental health issues and substance abuse in Jamestown.

The grant totals $187,672 as part of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Projects of Regional and National Significance Program. The program aims to expand access to evidence-based prevention and treatment services.

The announcement of the funding comes almost two weeks after the Jamestown mayor’s office gave an update about an alleged “homelessness crisis” in the city.

“The City of Jamestown has been grappling with the dual crises of substance abuse and encampments of those facing homelessness, so this grant couldn’t come at a more critical time,” said Congressman Langworthy.

“This new federal investment will significantly bolster our efforts to revitalize Jamestown and address the substance abuse and mental health challenges that have impacted our community,” said Jamestown Mayor Kim Ecklund. “Since I was elected, I’ve been focused on outreach and helping those experiencing homelessness as well as addiction and mental health concerns, and this grant and resources will allow us to make even greater strides in that mission.”

So the average cost for a stay in a mental health and or a substance abuse facility is about $1000 a day per person. Once something doesn't go their way and they find a trap house to work in and they leave. Most addicts use these places as homeless shelters and nothing more. Bring back the Rockefeller laws and get rid of the drugs. No drugs, no addicts. It has been allowed here and that is why they are here.
