BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A teen is facing charges and a bicyclist is in critical condition following a hit-and-run in Niagara Falls on Friday night, according to police.

Police responded to the area of 22nd Street and Willow Avenue just before 8:40 p.m. Friday. Initial investigation showed that the bicyclist, a 43-year-old Niagara Falls man, had been hit while traveling south on 22nd. The car, who police said Sunday was being driven by 19-year-old Daniel KT Wijesiriwardena was traveling east on Willow and left the scene without stopping.

Wijesiriwardena was arrested and has been charged with multiple felonies, police said. He is being arraigned on Sunday in Niagara Falls City Court.

The man was transported to ECMC with serious injuries, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Niagara Falls Police Traffic Division at (716) 286-4563 or the information line at (716) 286-4711.
