BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man received a split sentence of six months in jail followed by five years of probation for fatally striking a pedestrian with a vehicle last December, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Curtis L. Hall, Jr., 37, was driving a vehicle at a high rate of speed while under the influence of alcohol when he struck 69-year-old Michael T. Cosgrove the night of Dec. 15 on the 1000 block of William Street in Buffalo, officials said. Cosgrove was crossing the street at the time of the incident and later died at the scene.

Hall Jr. pleaded guilty to one count of criminally negligent homicide in May. As a result of the sentence, his driver’s license was revoked.
