AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Target on Niagara Falls Boulevard was reopen on Monday after its sprinkler system was activated throughout the store on Friday, causing a total of $25,000 in damage, Amherst police announced.

According to police, Target’s management reported to Amherst Fire Control that both the fire alarm system and sprinkler system were activated throughout the store.

Crews responded and reported that there was no active fire and there had been no fires before the activation, police said.

Amherst Fire shut down the alarm and sprinkler systems, which included closing the store indefinitely until the water damage is cleaned up and the system is fixed, police said. Workers in the store on Monday would not say which departments were damaged.

Officials said no further information will be released at this time.

Ummmm Someone on the neighborhood app said the store is back open. Do you really think a huge chain like this will shut down for long??? 😂 it would have to burn down for that! Call the store before going.
