BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Tonawanda’s Kenney Park has been cleaned up following vandalism, including some racist graffiti, that reportedly occurred overnight Sunday.

Town of Tonawanda Supervisor Joe Emminger posted a statement to social media Sunday morning saying the vandalism occurred on the Veterans memorial, the new inclusive playground and the rail trail.

“Some of the graffiti is racist and I want to be clear that the Town does not condone, nor will we tolerate this taking place in our Town,” he said. “The Town of Tonawanda Police Department is already working on finding out who committed this act and if/when they are caught, they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Damage cost the town over $1,000. Clean-up to the area began Monday morning and was finished by the afternoon.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tonawanda police at 716-879-6614 or the confidential tip line at 716-879-6606.
